Synopsis :
We speak and talk everyday and almost every hour. Speech is given freely but we can capitalize on this free commodity to our advantage.
How we communicate affects every aspect of our lives and livelihood. Our mode of communication can turn a business around or turn it down.
Grace Yap has made speech-education her business. One could say she “grew” into her business starting from a tender age of 10. Many others who have undergone speech training are now successful people in their chosen fields such as medical practitioners, CEOs, lawyers, dentists, newscasters. professionals and a long string of other specialties.
Programme:
Part 1 : Personal sharing by Ms Grace Yap on the use of Voice as a Vital Means of Communication.
Part 2 : Introduction to the various modes of Communication for Successful Business.
Profile (Speaker) :
Grace Yap runs her own school, Graces Speech & Drama Studio .
She had acquired her BA (Theatre Studies) and MSc. (Profound Learning Disabilities & Multi-Sensory Impairment) from the University of Manchester, U.K. Her research thesis was based on a generic speech and drama programme re-invented towards individuals with moderate to profound intellectual disabilities. She worked with MINDS-SIA for the research project and broke new ground in the process.
Grace has gone through the gamut of speech and drama exams with various U.K. examinations boards such as LAMDA, London College, Trinity / Guildhall. She started from the Initials level through to Grade 8, Licentiate Diploma in Speech & Drama Teaching to attain her Fellowship in Speech & Drama with the London College. She teaches students ranging from 18-month old babies to adults.
After having aught for almost 20 years, she decided to share the benefits of the speech & drama programme with people with intellectual disabilities. She volunteered to teach with MINDS-SIA. She was given the Rotary Club Award (finalist).
